I was invited to attend the "Take A Swing at Breast Cancer Golf Tournament" on Saturday. It was such an honor to be able to help at this event to benefit Jenny Willman, a kindergarten teacher, wife, and mother of two (ages 3 & 1) who was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in October. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jenny and her family, and with all of the women who are so bravely fighting this cancer.

Phoenix Children's Hospital
My husband and I had a wonderful evening at the Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) supporting their "Pajama Jam." This hospital holds a very special place in my heart. It had been five years since I had been in PCH, but as soon as I walked through the front doors everything came back to me as if it were yesterday. The entrance, the hallway down to the NICU where I spent countless hours for several weeks, and even the smell of my hands from the soap each time I washed my hands. Tonight brought back so many memories; those of fear, exhaustion, confusion, joy and gratitude. I know from first hand experience that all of the children and families that pass through these doors are filled with mixed emotions, and although we all have our own story, tonight we united to support one another and especially the children. I met so many wonderful parents and children tonight. Some had been patients at PCH several years ago, some have spent most of their life in and out of this hospital, and many were current patients at PCH.
You will see a picture below of me with Mia and her little brother. Mia Foutz is a brave 6 year old who was diagnosed with a brain tumor less than a year ago. She is a such a beautiful, vibrant little girl and was such a joy to talk with! Please read more about her story and support her by going to: humantribeproject.com and typing in her name.
Thank you PCH for this great event! It's through the eyes of a child that we realize what life is really about.

Appearances
It has been three months since I was crowned Mrs. Arizona America 2011. Since then, I have been very busy working with various charities and organizations around the state. They include: Childhelp; Read Across America; Mrs. Utah America Pageant; Celebrity Fight Night; The Phoenix Cotillion Mad Hatter Tea Party; Habitat for Humanity-Women Build; Lou Grubb “Friends Fore Golf” Event; March for Babies; Whimsey Clothing Boutique Meet & Greet; Judge at the Senorita Cinco de Mayo Pageant; Feed My Starving Children Event; K2 Foundation Fashion Show; Chick-fil-A Facebook Family Night Kick-Off; Annual Inaugural Run Walk Shop Race at San Tan Village; photo shoot at MomBomb Boutique and, of course, sixteen days at the Mrs. America Pageant at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia! I've had the opportunity to personally meet Muhammad and Lonnie Ali, Reba, Kelly Clarkson (pictured), John Michaels, John Salley, Mark Grace (pictured), Luis Gonzalez "Gonzo," Barbara Chase, Florence Henderson and Jessica Lynch, just to name a few.
This is just the beginning, and my calendar is filling up very quickly. Please let me know if you have an event that you would like me to attend!

The Beginning.....
It had been 18 years since my last pageant, but my dream was still alive. On the night of February 19, 2011 I stood on the Mrs. Arizona America stage hoping that all of my hard work, perseverance and determination would lead me to making my dream a reality. I wanted it, I believed it and I was determined to achieve it! As I heard my name called for Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown and then stood there in the top 2, I wondered what was next. After hearing the 1st runner-up called I never heard another word, but in that moment my life changed more than I ever thought possible. My dream was realized and I was the new Mrs. Arizona America 2011! If it wasn’t for all of the photos, crown and sash that I still have to look at to remind me that I’m Mrs. Arizona America, I still wouldn’t believe it.
After being crowned I had six weeks to prepare for the national Mrs. America pageant. I spent sixteen incredible days at the luxurious Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, met 50 versatile and accomplished women and had the experience of a lifetime! I can’t begin to tell you how much this journey impacted my life, and I am honored to have represented Arizona at the national level. As Mrs. Arizona I have been given a stronger voice as I travel the state and work with the charities and organizations that I so passionately believe in, which allows me to positively impact the lives of others. I have been blessed with so many new friends, experiences and memories that I wouldn’t have had without this title. It’s not about the sash and crown, but what lies underneath that’s important. It’s the lives that I touch everyday that makes this whole experience so fulfilling.
Follow me as I continue my journey as Mrs. Arizona America 2011. It's going to be an amazing year!
All the Best,
